This further infuriated the home crowd, leading to a teammate to try to diffuse the situation.
Manchester United winger Antony actually did try to calm down the Galatasaray fans, with a gesture after Garnacho’s goal.
As his Manchester United teammates crowded around Garnacho, Antony apologized to the Turkish crowd on behalf of his overly enthusiastic young colleague, who had also infuriated Fernando Muslera, the goalkeeper for Galatasaray.
His actions were noted by Turkish outlets Fanatik and Milliyet, which reported: “Antony returned to the stands and apologised to the fans with hand gestures.”
Antony was making his return to the side after missing the Everton game with an injury.
He played well, arguably his best game of the season, with his performance praised by Manchester United fans.
The winger’s performance was praised by Craig Burley via ESPN FC, who said: “I’m going to say this, Antony played well. This is a collector’s item.”
