‘The heir to Virgil van Dijk’s throne’ – Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Jarell Quansah after his ‘ comprehensive’ performance in Liverpool’s victory over LASK

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp heaped praise on Jarell Quansah after his side’s win over LASK in the Europa League last night.

Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, and a brace from Cody Gakpo gave the Reds a commanding win over the Austrian team. But we were most impressed by young Quansah.

Liverpool was always the favorite to win their Europa League group, but they had to wait until Wednesday to lock up the top spot after losing to Toulouse.

Jurgen Klopp named a fairly strong line-up against LASK last night, and the big names in attack – Gakpo, Diaz and Salah – all delivered to give the Reds a comfortable win.

Even though the goalscorers deserve a ton of praise for what they did, it was 20-year-old Jarell Quansah who really caught our eye.

The youngster continues to amaze everyone with his performances. Nobody really expected him to be as good as he has been – not even Klopp – but he looks like a massive talent. The German heaped praise on him after the game.

He said, as per Liverpool’s official website: “Jarell played a super game, that’s true. That couldn’t be better news for the club, to be honest.

“I think before this season a lot of people told us we should buy a centre-half. We knew we had Jarell. Did we know that he will show up like this? No, not exactly, but we were pretty hopeful, so the future is bright. It’s cool.

“Our own boy, calm on the ball, good in the challenge, quick, ruthless in the right moments and besides Caoimhin, who had one or two saves, [he] probably had the most spectacular defensive situations when he saved our backside in some moments. So, that’s really good. [It’s] top news for us.”

Liverpool youngster Jarell Quansah was very, very good against LASK last night.

The 20-year-old had 74 touches of the ball and completed 60 of his 66 attempted passes, maintaining an excellent 91 per cent passing accuracy (SofaScore).

Quansah also made three interceptions and wasn’t dribbled past once in the entire game, which is fantastic for someone so young.
