Lingard, 30, had been training with Saudi outfit Al-Ettifaq with the hope of earning a contract.

The attacker spent a month with Steven Gerrard’s side training alongside the likes of Jordan Henderson, Moussa Dembélé and Georginio Wijnaldum.

However, a contract did not come his way as the squad is full until at least January.

In the meantime, Lingard has been training by himself.

He shared a post on Instagram showing himself keeping fit as he works with a trainer one-on-one.

It was captioned: “Working baby”.

Lingard had turned his back on a potential deal with former loan club West Ham in order to pursue a Saudi deal.

Throughout the summer, he trained with the Hammers and even made an appearance in a development game.

Lingard scored just two goals for Forest in all competitions the previous season.

He scored twice and provided two assists in three Carabao Cup games.

The former Red Devils star had 17 appearances in the Premier League but did not score or assist on any of those goals.

His Man United contract terminated in 2022, and he transferred for free to the City Ground.
