When Real Madrid welcomes Granada to the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, they will be looking to further solidify their position atop La Liga, which they regained last weekend.
Since losing to SC Braga, Real Madrid have won four in a row in all competitions (Cadiz, SC Braga, Valencia, and most recently Napoli).
Carlo Ancelotti and company have managed to keep winning despite a slew of injuries, and they’ll be looking to add to their lead tomorrow when they play at home.
Meanwhile, Granada is in last place in the league, although they might be experiencing a “new-manager bounce” due to the recent hiring of Alexander Medina as head coach in lieu of Paco Lopez.
With Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao, Arda Guler, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Modric, and Vinicius Jr. out with injuries, Real Madrid will face it without them.
This is Ancelotti’s possible starting lineup for tomorrow’s match against Granada at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Starters
After sitting out the previous four matches, Real Madrid have included Kepa Arrizabalaga in their lineup to play Granada now that he is fit again. Nevertheless, manager Carlo Ancelotti announced during his news conference that Andriy Lunin will start in goal again tomorrow.
Ancelotti must decide on his starting lineup for tomorrow’s match, which presents an opportunity to rotate his players. However, the Italian may be inclined to start his strongest XI as there is no next midweek match.
Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba might keep starting at center defense for Real Madrid, with Ferland Mendy and Dani Carvajal manning the flanks on the right and left, respectively.
With Federico Valverde’s help, Toni Kroos has filled in at pivot midfield when Camavinga and Tchouameni went down with injury. Dani Ceballos, meanwhile, will have another shot at starting due to Luka Modric’s injury.
Despite a near-injury scare earlier in the day during training, Jude Bellingham is fully cleared to play. The Englishman, who is just 20 years old, will start the match as he usually does, as an attacking midfielder who can trouble the other team’s defense.
Against Napoli earlier this week, Ancelotti started Rodrygo Goes and Brahim Diaz in the attacking third. The management is probably not going to switch up the duo after seeing how well they played together.
The expected starting lineup for Real Madrid is as follows: Lunin, Carvajal, Rudiger, Alaba, Kroos, Valverde, Ceballos, Bellingham, Brahim, Rodrygo.
Substitutes
Carlo Ancelotti will look to Joselu to bolster Real Madrid’s offensive options, while youthful Nico Paz, fresh off his senior debut goal against Napoli, will likely get increased playing time.
At some point in the second half, captain Nacho Fernandez will enter the game to relieve one of the starting central defenders. Ferland Mendy might be replaced by Fran Garcia.
Gonzalo Garcia, a young attacker from the academy, is another potential starter on Saturday.
