After Valencia lost to Girona earlier on Saturday, Real Madrid fell to second place in La Liga. Carlo Ancelotti’s squad triumphed over Granada at the Santiago Bernabeu, reclaiming first place, much to the relief of Madridistas everywhere.
After a frustrating start from Granada, Real Madrid were eventually able to break through thanks to a beautiful ball from Toni Kroos in the 26th minute. Brahim Diaz continued his impressive form recently and placed the ball into the back of the net as the receiver.
From this point on, Real Madrid took charge of the game, although Granada still had a shot to pull even with a one-goal advantage. But they got another one from Rodrygo, who has been on a tear as of late, contributing to 12 goals in his previous six games.
The rest of the game was played out by Ancelotti’s squad without them scoring any more goals. This puts Real Madrid ahead of Girona for the first time this season, and they can focus on Sunday’s La Liga title matchup between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, two of their key rivals.
