Secluded dream villa in Raja Ampat archipelago

View our overwater bungalows in Raja Ampat! They combine the old world charm of Papua New Guinea with the simplicity of modern design elements. We created them using locally sourced, natural materials that we gathered from nearby towns. For instance, Daun Nipa is used to manufacture the roofing, and Daun Bobo is utilized to construct the walls. Iron wood is used for the floors, door and window frames, and other structural elements. These are the materials that are commonly used in construction by Papuans.

Initially, we built our 15 Papua Explorers overwater bungalows as a cooperative initiative. As a result, we quickly commissioned it for other houses in our area. As a result, a larger portion of the community benefited from the revenue. Each section appointed one trade professional and two village apprentices. The model had a high success rate. Because of this, a significant portion of our senior workers were formerly fisherman but are currently paid far more for employment in a range of sustainable professions and crafts.

View our Papua Explorers foundation website for additional information about our community support.
