Up to six Liverpool players are out for Wednesday’s Premier League away match against Sheffield United.
With Thiago, Stefan Bajcetic, and Andy Robertson out until the new year and Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, and Joel Matip injured, Jurgen Klopp will have some selection issues.
Sheffield United are bottom of the league and just hired former manager Chris Wilder to replace Paul Heckingbottom, who was fired after just one win in 14 games.
Klopp may rotate several key players before the challenging away trip to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday at 12:30pm. He could choose from several lineups that could beat the league’s bottom squad this season.
LiverpoolWorld predicts Klopp’s starting lineup and substitutions before of the game at Bramall Lane.
GK—Caoimhin Kelleher
He struggled against Brentford and hopes to get back on track here with Alisson out.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold
The right-back is in great form and will seek to continue against the Blades.
CB: Jarell Quansah
Gomez, Quansah, or Konate might replace Matip, although the 21-year-old has played against ‘weaker’ opposition and could replace a more experienced player due to the weekend’s rapid turnaround. He has shown he can handle the level, so Klopp’s choice will be intriguing.
CB—Virgil Dijk
Despite the fast turnaround, the captain should start. Whether he plays the full 90 is doubtful, but he should lead his team.
Joe Gomez, LB
With Tsimikas the only fit left-back, Gomez should play against a weak offense to rest the Greek international.
CM: Ryan Gravenberch
He needs games to adjust to England, and this is a good chance.
Curtis Jones
Jones should replace Mac Allister, who has played many minutes, in the deeper slot.
Dominik Szoboszlai
Who needs rest? The Hungarian captain. Unless he plays Harvey Elliott, Klopp may want Szoboszlai to lead the midfield.
RW: Mohamed Salah
Speaks for itself. He will want to achieve 200 club goals after sticking at 199 last time.
LW: Cody Gakpo
Jota’s injury should offer Gakpo a chance in front of Dias. He may be the sole striker with Dias on the left, but Nunez may get another chance in the middle.
ST: Darwin Nunez
Nunez wasted several chances against Fulham, so Klopp should give him a chance to score against the league’s poorest team.
X9 substitutes
Adrian, Ibrahim Konate, Kostas Tsimikas, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott, Luis Dias, Ben Doak, Conor Bradley, Alexis MacAllister.
