In the second half of his team’s 4-3 victory over Fulham, the center defender was substituted out due to what appeared to be an injury. The defender’s situation does not appear to be improving, as Klopp reiterated on Tuesday after the game, stating that the injury appeared to be serious.

Reporters were told by Klopp: “We can say that it doesn’t seem good, but I’m not sure how long he will be out. We’re not sure exactly yet because the scan isn’t finished, but it’s not good. It was evident in the first minute. “Oh no, that is not good,” I said to him in our conversation. Yet we’re not sure how long [he will be hurt for].
THE BIGGER PICTURE The Reds, who already lack players like Alisson, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, and Andy Robertson, are dealt a serious blow with the departure of Matip. “Diogo was running yesterday (Monday) outside, on his birthday, and everything is going in the right direction but no-one told me he will be back in team training,” Klopp continued. “Alisson and Jota are closer to returning to action.” It will take some time. Alisson is undoubtedly closer, but not for tomorrow.
