Rihanna has lived in The Century, a highly upscale Los Angeles skyscraper, since 2014. But her present three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-story house was a little too small for her expanding family, staff, and constant entourage. The Barbadian diva bought a penthouse on the 40th floor of The Century, taking up the whole level, for $21 million to get out of this jam.
The penthouse, which is more than 9,000 square feet, has exquisite, custom-designed amenities and stunning vistas. Using Los Angeles’s mansion tax as leverage, Rihanna haggled down the asking price from $28 million and finalized the transaction on March 31, the day before the tax was to take effect. If the purchase had been finalized in April, she would have owed an extra $1.1 million in taxes, but her maneuver prevented that.
The living room of the penthouse is a sight to behold, with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer breathtaking views of the metropolitan skyline. Guests are welcomed by an entrance gallery that leads to the dining room and a stunning all-white kitchen with marble countertops, two islands, and high-end appliances. The dark brown hardwood floors flow effortlessly into the space from the private elevator.
There is a separate lounge, two bathrooms, a soundproof theater with velvet sofas, a master suite with a curved bedroom, two custom closets, and the property itself has it all. Nevertheless, the penthouse’s four separate outdoor terraces—each facing a different direction—offer breathtaking views of the ocean, Catalina Island, the San Gabriel mountains, Downtown Los Angeles skyscrapers, and even Mount Baldy, which is covered in snow—making them the most outstanding features.
Despite the exorbitant $8,814 monthly HOA charge that Rihanna pays for her penthouse at The Century, she has access to a plethora of first-rate amenities. The amenities offered by this property are extensive and include four parking spaces with deeds, a 24-hour concierge, security guards, an outdoor pool, beautiful gardens, storage, a restaurant, meeting rooms, and much more.
