‘My god were we lucky’ – Fans were excited when Klopp mocked Chelsea’s Caicedo and Latvia deal after rejecting Liverpool

JURGEN KLOPP left Liverpool fans in hysterics after taking a brutal swipe at Chelsea over their deals to sign £173million pair Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

This new-look midfield has been instrumental in transforming Liverpool into the side who sit top of the Premier League table.

Chelsea, however, are in 12th having won only five games this season.

And during a club test event for Anfield’s new stand, Klopp made a cheeky dig towards the deals.

He said: “Between us, my god were we lucky! We didn’t know that in the moment

“We realised other central defensive midfielders didn’t want to join… then you see what happens.”

Fans were loving the roast online, with one saying: “The dig at Caicedo was brilliant haha.”

A second said: “How stupid must Caicedo feel now on his eight-year contract, delighted for him.”

A third added: “Jurgen 🤣🤣.”

Liverpool host Manchester United on Sunday with 57,000 fans expected to be packed into Anfield for the showdown.

Additionally, the highest tier of the Premier League leaders’ Anfield Road stand will host 7,000 fans on Sunday if a safety certificate is approved.

Upgrading the lower tier will require some little adjustments before the total capacity is increased to 61,000.

The £80 million project was supposed to be finished by the beginning of the season, but the contractors’ bankruptcy caused a delay.
