The winger failed to produce anything particularly noteworthy for his team, although making a few strong forward runs and even creating a couple half-chances.

But because of how ridiculous one specific scenario featuring the Brazilian in the first half was, many Old Trafford supporters were infuriated.

Antony received the ball deep into the right wing with Alphonso Davies trailing him. He tried to do a few tricks to rattle the defender, who simply didn’t move.

With his options limited, the Man United tried to pass the forward onto a teammate forward only for it to ricochet back to him and away for a Bayern throw-in.

A lot of boos and groans were heard over the stadium after that bit of bizarre play which summed up Man United’s dismal outing against the Bavarians.

Reacting on social media, one fan wrote: “Antony having to play against Alphonso Davies is hilarious. He struggles against the most average full backs🤣”

Meanwhile, another added: “I swear this guy isn’t Brazilian”

A third added: “I have never seen him go at someone. he always stands still or goes side to side lol.”

While another said: “Superb move! hahaha all that effort for nothing ”
