Nasir “Nas” Jones suffered a public foreclosure of his Georgia residence in 2012 as a result of his unpaid taxes. The renowned hip-hop performer does seem to be doing better, though. He just moved into a $3.5 million estate on the semi-rural outskirts of Calabasas, and after 14 nominations, he won his first Grammy for the rap album “King’s Diseɑse.”
The $2.5 million listing for the 2007 Mediterranean-meets-Southwestern property featured four bedrooms, five bathrooms, high ceilings, arched entrances, and limestone flooring. A bidding war broke out over the property’s characteristics and more than ten acres.
Overlooking stunning mountain vistas, Nas’ new residence is tucked away behind a lengthy road and secured by gates and security cameras. The multistory home features an eight-car garage on a motorcourt and a double-height lobby with a wrought-iron staircase.
The main floor has a living area with a fireplace, built-in bookcases, and glass sliders that open to a patio. There are stairs leading to this level. A central island, Viking appliances, granite countertops, a butler’s pantry, a family room with a fireplace, a formal dining room, an office, and a breakfast nook are all features of the gourmet kitchen.
The house also features a sizable wine cellar with a tasting area and a wet bar for pool. A two-way fireplace, a sitting area, a private balcony, double walk-in closets, a gym, and a spa-like bathroom with a jetted soaking tub and steam shower are features of the opulent master retreat. The backyard features a grotto-style pool with a Jacuzzi, waterfall, and water slide in addition to an outdoor dining deck with an integrated BBQ. Everything is completed with an unending vista from the rooftop balcony.
Nas, 48, made his television debut in 1991 on “Live at the Barbecue” on Main Source. His 1994 debut was “Illmatic,” and in 1996, “It Was Written” made its No. 1 Billboard chart debut. As MTV’s “Greatest MC of All Time,” Nas has achieved eight platinum albums and over 25 million record sales. Record producer, businessman, and actor, he is estimated to be worth $70 million.
Nas was represented by Alex Duk of Harcourts Beverly Hills, and it was listed by Angela Waters of Harcourts Prime Properties.
