The Liverpool squad is expected to play Manchester United at Anfield in the Premier League.
When Liverpool hosts Manchester United at Anfield (16.30 GMT), it will be one of their biggest games of the year.
The Reds are ready to confront their fierce rivals, since the most successful clubs in England have had differing results this season. Liverpool is one of the top teams in the Premier League even after making a big roster change in the summer. They are leading the race for the crown, and many concur that their progress has exceeded expectations. Even though their recent performances have not been spectacular, Jurgen Klopp’s team has defeated Crystal Palace and Sheffield United.
Although Liverpool’s Europa League match against Royal Unions Saint-Gilloise ended in a 2-1 loss, the squad had already advanced to the round of 16, and Klopp had selected the youngest team in the club’s history, giving most of his star players a well-earned break.
Conversely, United is a mere sixth in the Premier League. Additionally, criticism has grown on head coach Erik ten Hag following the team’s disastrous group-stage exit from the Champions League, where they managed just four points from six games—its lowest-ever total. In their previous meeting, the Red Devils were likewise trounced 7-0.
But as Klopp gets ready for United, he won’t tolerate any discussion about that match. Diogo Jota and Andy Robertson are still sidelined, and Alexis Mac Allister will be absent for Liverpool once more due to a serious cut. In light of it, the Liverpool squad that is expected to play United is listed below.
1. GK – Alisson Becker
Came back from injury against Palace and showed why he’s one of the best in the world between the posts.
2. RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold
The vice-captain was again magnificent of late. Calls continue for him to move permanently into midfield but Klopp is likely to resist.
3. CB – Ibrahima Konate
Substituted at half-time at Union SG which very much suggested he was being wrapped in cotton wool for this game.
4. CB – Virgil van Dijk
The Liverpool skipper has had eight days to recover and will head into the game fresh.
5. LB – Kostas Tsimikas
The Greece international was rested midweek and has hit some decent form with a run of games behind him.
6. CM – Ryan Gravenberch
Mac Allister remains sidelined and Wataru Endo has struggled in his past two games. It could mean that Klopp makes the bold decision to play Gravenberch in the No.6 role.
7. CM – Dominik Szoboszlai
Hit a bit of a dip in form but he remains a regular in the midfield.
8. CM – Curtis Jones
The academy product was disappointing against Union SG but so were most others. Jones was superb at the start of the season and Klopp may feel Liverpool are better with the academy product in the team.
9. RW – Mo Salah
Now hit 200 goals and absolutely relishes playing United.
10. ST – Darwin Nunez
The striker struggled last week at Palace but he is an enigma and could run United ragged.
11. LW – Luis Diaz
The Colombia international has been subdued by his own standards in the past couple of games but a full week off means he could be refreshed.
