PLAYER RATING: Man Utd 0-0 Liverpool: Varane is comeback; Antony’s emergency exit

MANCHESTER UNITED made up for last season’s Anfield hammering by bagging a point against Liverpool today.

The Red Devils sealed a 0-0 draw despite being second-best on the pitch

Andre Onana was decent between the sticks

And it was gladly received by supporters following last term’s humiliating 7-0 thrashing.

Jonny Evans had a fine game for United, while Rasmus Hojlund looked shaky up top.

Rasmus Hojlund had a game to forget

But who else played well on Merseyside? And did any other players have a game to forget?

Here, we delivers his Man Utd player ratings vs Liverpool…

Andre Onana – 7

Liverpool bị MU chặn đứng, Jurgen Klopp nói điều bất ngờ về Onana

Did not really have much to do but looked very dodgy trying to play the ball out from the back and hit it straight out for a throw in so many times, it invited pressure onto his side.

He has some excellent saves including Van Dijk’s header

Diogo Dalot – 6

Liverpool frustrated as Man Utd show spirit in defiant draw | SuperSport

Had a decent game up until the point he was shown a second yellow card for dissent. Did not really affect this game but he will miss their next game.

Jonny Evans – 7

Jonny Evans was Man Utd's best player in their 0-0 draw at Liverpool

The veteran defender was the stand out player for the visitors.

Constantly commanding to the other defenders, leading by example.

Raphael Varane – 8

Liverpool 0 - 0 Man Utd - Match Report & Highlights

Won most of the aerial duels and made Liverpool’s set pieces seem poor. Where was he when United’s Champions League campaign was falling apart?! Proactive defending with great organisational skills paved the way for a surprisingly sturdy United display.

Luke Shaw – 7

Got a silly yellow card late on.

Gave the ball away a few times but did enough to make it an extremely quiet game for both Salah and Alexander-Arnold.

Kobbie Mainoo – 6

Did not do much to stand out, but did not make many mistakes.

Grafted but added very little. He’s ready for this level.

Sofyan Amrabat – 6

Liverpool 0-0 Man Utd: Red Devils earn unlikely point at Anfield as Dalot is sent off

Tried to break up play but lunges in all too often.

When Liverpool attacked at pace, resorts to fouling the player all too often.

Antony – 7

One of his better performances for Man Utd, offered an outlet when they were under pressure.

Lacks the final ball to create chances all too often though. Worked hard in defence which probably saved him from being subbed early.

Scott McTominay – 6

Hòa kiên cường Liverpool, Man United làm nức lòng người hâm mộ

Expected a lot more considering he was given the captain’s armband. Played as the No 10 but has no qualities which a No 10 should. Lacked the on-ball skills to create chances or retain possession in a frantic game.

Very anonymous performance.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6

Liverpool vs Manchester United LIVE: Premier League latest score and goal updates as Rashford on the bench | The Independent

Tried to get at Alexander-Arnold in the first half but goes to ground far too easily.

Fizzled out of the game in the second half.

Rasmus Hojlund – 4

May be an image of football, soccer, cleats and text

Offered so little as the main striker, the best chance of the game fell to him and he drilled it into Alisson’s chest with the keeper knowing little about it.

Lacking confidence and does not look a natural goalscorer when through on goal.

Subs

Marcus Rashford – Didn’t really have much to work with as Liverpool dominated the ball late on but won a couple of free kicks to relieve the pressure.

Facundo Pellistri – Not much impact but did well on the odd occasion to drag United upward when he had the ball.

Hannibal Mejbri – Combative and enterprising in his small cameo.
