Jeff Stelling has said that he believes Sunday’s tie between Liverpool and Manchester United may have been Mohamed Salah’s worst performance for the team.
When facing Erik ten Hag’s team in front of goal, the Reds appeared to lose all composure. The game ended goalless at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s team hardly put Andre Onana to the test.
The way Mohamed Salah performed in the game was undoubtedly one of the biggest surprises. This season, the Egyptian has been outstanding thus far. But against United, he nearly appeared rusty.
Jeff Stelling cannot recall a worse performance by Mohamed Salah for Liverpool.
Jamie Carragher observed that Dominik Szoboszlai and Salah were quite careless in the first half. Ultimately, as the game progressed, the 31-year-old’s afternoon did not get any better.
In reality, Jeff Stelling now claims that he does not recall Salah laboring as much as he appeared to face Manchester United yesterday on talkSPORT (broadcast on 18/12; 6:13).
“They should examine themselves, as Liverpool performed terribly and made headlines with their 34 shots on goal; they were devoid of clear-cut opportunities,” he remarked.
“As a huge fan, I don’t take any pride in stating this, but I’ve never seen Mo Salah play worse for Liverpool.
“He was so poor.”
Salah was entitled to a day off, but no teammate was willing to stand up while the talisman worked. Despite this, he has scored 11 goals in the Premier League so far this year. Who has discovered the back of the net more frequently than Erling Haaland?
However, the fact that none of the other offensive players stepped up when he was struggling will worry Jurgen Klopp.

To be fair, Manchester United played strong defense, with Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane use their combined expertise to try to overwhelm the home team.
However, Liverpool had the talent to make it worse for the guests. Unfortunately, Salah wasn’t the only one who had a bad day at work; Szoboszlai, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Cody Gakpo were among them.
