Over thousands of years, the streams that flowed over the chalk and limestone deposited travertine barriers, forming natural dams that produced a succession of stunning lakes, caverns, and waterfalls. Even now, these geological processes are ongoing. bears, wolves, and other uncommon bird species can be found in the park’s forests.
