After the draw against Man Utd, Liverpool quickly returned to their winning ways with a destruction against West Ham in the Carabao Cup Quarterfinals.
The 0-0 draw against Man Utd last weekend was no different from a loss for Liverpool. And it’s clear that West Ham came to Anfield at the wrong time at all.
After a series of goals, in the 28th minute, Dominik Szoboszlai finally scored for Liverpool with a familiar long-distance finish.
Having scored the opening goal, Liverpool played much more confidently in the second half. 9 minutes after halftime, Curtis Jones increased the score to 2-0 with a skillful goal.
At minute 71, it was Cody Gakpo’s turn to enter his name on the electronic board.
West Ham’s efforts helped them get an equalizer thanks to Jarrod Bowen in the 77th minute.
However, substitute Mohamed Salah extinguished all hopes of the away team writing a fairy tale with a familiar left-footed shot in the 82nd minute.
Two minutes later, Jones sealed a 5-1 victory for Liverpool when he successfully connected after a clear pass from Alexander-Arnold.
West Ham almost endured the match for 90 minutes. They only took 2 shots, while The Kop had 29 shots at the opponent’s goal.
Immediately after the match, Klopp entered the field and praised Jones, who scored a double.
The 5-1 victory helped Klopp and his team confidently advance to the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
