Jurgen Klopp’s selection may be affected by injuries as Liverpool continues their exhausting Premier League holiday season with a trip to Burnley on Boxing Day.

Unfortunately, a mounting injury list is impeding Klopp’s ability to make seismic alterations.

Because of this, the starting lineup that plays at Turf Moor is probably not going to change all that much.

 

Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, and Virgil van Dijk all keep their spots from the draw with Arsenal, meaning Klopp’s back five essentially chooses itself.

After making an impression at left back against the Gunners, Joe Gomez will almost definitely replace the injured Kostas Tsimikas at that position.As Alexis Mac Allister is still unlikely to return, Wataru Endo will probably continue to play holding midfield for Lancashire.

However, changes may be made before he takes the field to shake things up. Ryan Gravenberch and Harvey Elliott are candidates to start in place of Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai, respectively.

Darwin Nunez, who only played from the bench against Arsenal, is expected to return to the attacking side, but it is unclear who he will replace.

Cody Gakpo would have to withdraw if he had Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz on each side of him, but there is serious doubt about the Colombian’s fitness.

Diaz’s knee was wrapped with ice right away after he was brought off the pitch on Saturday, despite Klopp’s explanation that the ‘physios were not too concerned’. The manager did add, ‘you never know’.

Nunez should move to the left and Gakpo should stay up front if it is decided not to risk the No. 7 right away.
