Calciomercato has reported that Real Madrid is reportedly interested in AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez. The French left-back has reportedly been identified by Los Blancos as a target ahead of a possible transfer for him in 2019.
Hernandez’s Outstanding Italian Football Career
Hernandez, who plays on the left side of AC Milan’s defence, has been having a respectable season at San Siro. In 20 games this season, the 26-year-old has made two goals and two assists for the Italian team on all fronts.
Based on his Serie A average of 0.9 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.3 shots, 1.4 crucial passes, and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes, the French prodigy has been a respectable performance in both halves. In the Italian top division, he completed 86.7% of his passes on attempt, demonstrating even accuracy in ball distribution (statistics via whoscored).
The Italian club has a deal with him that expires in the summer of 2026. Therefore, if Los Blancos are serious in signing the French defensive star for next season, they will need to make a significant move.
Next year, should Real Madrid sign Hernandez?
Hernandez has good ball-tackle ability and knows when to timing his challenges to win the ball back for his team inside his half. Whenever the opposition is on the front foot, he typically puts his foot through the ball. Hernandez’s primary position is left back, however he can also play centre back or left winger when necessary.
The Frenchman has the vision to create a few good opportunities for his teammates in the last third of the game and can shoot the ball with deadly accuracy from a great distance. On the left side, he can also dribble the ball quite well.
Hernandez should provide Real Madrid’s matchday squad additional depth and skill. Additionally, he would support Madrid in their upcoming seasons as they would challenge on all fronts. As a result, it makes sense for Los Blancos to make every effort to sign Hernandez in January or before the season ends. After spending a previous loan season with the Madrid team, he already knew the club well, so he won’t need much time to get used to life in the Spanish capital.
