And amid Man Utd’s hit and miss form this season he twisted the knife further by turning provider as Nuno Espirito Santo’s revamped Forest won 2-1.

However, his match-winning assist for Morgan Gibbs-White is not what infuriated Man Utd fans.

Rather it was the action he did after he was substituted in the 87th minute.

Fans spotted the 21-year-old smiling and pointing to his club badge while on the sideline.

Reacting to the act on social media, one fan said: “Elanga pointing to the Forest badge as he’s subbed off smiling 😭😭😭😭.”

A second said: “Elanga pointing to the Forest badge when he comes off. What a nerd.”

A third said: “What’s that nonsense touching of the badge that Elanga is doing?”

Another fumed: “Elanga pointing to the Forest badge what a snake.”

While a fifth added: “Elanga flexing that Nottingham badge. Fairs.”

After the match, the Swedish winger admitted that he was happy to win against the Red Devils:

“Last season was not easy for me, only being on the field for 5-10 minutes and then barely playing all 10 matches continuously, forcing me to choose to leave MU. This match is personal for me, proving I can play at the highest level.”

With six assists this season, Elanga has more than any other Manchester United player.

With the victory, Forest jumps up to 15th place on the table and moves five spots clear of the drop zone.

Man Utd, meanwhile, is still in seventh place, nine points outside the top four.
