‘We need Sherlock Holmes’ – Fans fuming with referee as Elliott booked immediately for same offence while Arsenal players escape yellow card on 3 times

Liverpool defeated Arsenal at the Emirates in the FA Cup on Sunday but one of the talking points after the game is the disastrous performance by the referee John Brooks.

Arsenal vs Liverpool 'dissent' comparison video calls referee John Brooks' performance into question

One particular thing was how the same rule was applied to the Reds and the Gunners. Harvey Elliott was booked for dissent but Jorginho and Martin Odegaard weren’t.

The Gunners captain kept throwing tantrums on the pitch but went unpunished. Unlike Harvey Elliott, who was booked for simply throwing his hands up in the air.

“It’s quite obvious that when Odegaard did it again the ref should’ve booked Diaz,” one Liverpool fan joked.

Even some Gooners agree. One Arsenal wrote on Reddit: “I agree, it was ridiculous refereeing and was so noticeable throughout the game. Let’s not forget you lot got shafted by that Odegaard handball too.

The third said: “The refs are ruining the game.”

The fourth mocks: “Well, we need Sherlock Holmes or even Scooby Doo to solve this mystery. It’s Liverpool of course, as always.”
