The 19-year-old is a well publicised fan of Ronaldo.

In December last year it was revealed by his Argentine team-mate Leandro Paredes that he has been teased for his love of the superstar so much in the Argentina dressing room that it’s made him “too shy to talk.”

Roma star Paderes said: “We joked about it with him. He is very shy and does not answer.

“Poor guy, we drove him crazy. We also talked to him about what the group is, somehow we try to make them feel part of it and feel comfortable.

“Although in this case he got very nervous and couldn’t talk. But as he said, I think he is his idol, he always followed him a lot and he plays quite similar.

“So it’s normal, nothing happens. Obviously, when he comes to the national team he has to change a little bit.”

Wants to play with Messi in Argentina, but what the player thinks about Ronaldo that Lionel doesn't like

Argentina’s national team is clearly committed to Lionel Messi, who has been embroiled in a decades-long dispute over who is better between him and Ronaldo.

Garnacho is thus in a difficult situation, given his desire to follow in the footsteps of the Manchester United legend.

Garnacho is so keen to emulate Ronaldo that he even copied the Portuguese superstar’s iconic ‘Siu’ celebration.

He most recently used it after scoring an incredible overhead kick against Everton.

Garnacho has five goals and two helpers in 26 games for United this season.
