‘CLEAR PEN’ – Man Utd fans fume as Garnacho being denied ‘clearest penalty’ for against Tottenham while Ten Hag insist ‘all season that is the case’

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have been left fuming after being denied a penalty against Tottenham.

The Red Devils welcomed Spurs to Old Trafford for the Premier League clash as Sir Jim Ratcliffe watched on for the first time.

Alejandro Garnacho appeared to be grabbed by Destiny Udogie

Alejandro Garnacho went down in the box under pressure from Destiny Udogie.

The Argentine appeared to be held by the Spurs defender as he dropped to the floor.

Alejandro Garnacho was the one member of United’s front three not to get on the scoresheet and he had a tough afternoon against Destiny Udogie, who was largely able to keep the winger quiet.

However, Garnacho felt he should have had a penalty in the first-half, when he went down under close attention from Udogie in the box, but his appeals were swiftly waved away.

Asked post-match if the referee should have pointed to the spot, Ten Hag said: “Yes. What can you do? But I am used to it, all season that is the case,” Ten Hag said.

One fan slammed: “Clear pen.”

A second wrote: “The most obvious foul you could ever see.”

A third posted: “That should be a penalty.”

Another commented: “It’s a clear penalty.”

One said: “The most obvious foul you could ever see.”

Another added: “Like, how is that not a foul? Genuinely. He is literally holding on to him.”

It was the first time Ratcliffe had watched United at Old Trafford since completing the partial take-over of the club.

He wasn’t the only big name in attendance as club legend Wayne Rooney and darts sensation Luke Littler.

United ended the first half 2-1 ahead thanks to goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford, while Richarlison netted for Spurs.

But Rodrigo Bentancur levelled within two minutes of the second half starting… before Erik ten Hag had even taken his seat.

And that was how the game ended as the points were shared.
