Ange Postecoglou twice pegs back Manchester United as Tottenham earn Old Trafford draw

United have only taken one point from a possible six against Tottenham this season, a poor return from a fixture where the team took all six points as recently as the terrible 2021/22 season.

United almost won this game late, with Scott McTominay heading over the bar from close range.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou admitted he was wary of Manchester United’s attackers, especially in counter attacking situations.

Speaking after the game to Sky Sports, he named three players he was particularly worried about.

Postecoglou said: “Manchester United on the transition are still a very good team. Players like Rashford, Bruno and Garnacho can unlock any defence.

“If you give the ball away, there’s always that threat. Both full-backs had tough jobs.”

Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho react to Man Utd star's 'fire' performance

Erik ten Hag was keen to shout about Alejandro Garnacho too, when he was asked about United’s attacking threat.

Responding to a question about Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund’s partnership, the manager said he is pleased with his attackers.

He told Sky Sports: “I think you see it is growing and add Garnacho. We have a front three that is a threat for every opponent.”

Rasmus Hojlund is now up to seven goals for the season in all competitions, netting in his last two appearances at Old Trafford.

The Danish striker has had a tough start in the Premier League at Manchester United. He missed the away game at Forest due to illness, but he has already scored in his previous two league appearances, including the game-winning goal against Aston Villa at home on Boxing Day.

He also had an assist in this game, and with Marcus Rashford scoring for the second time in three games, there are encouraging signs that this goal-shy forward line is warming up.
