Fans said ‘it’s good to have him back’ as Martinez barged Richarlison in United’s clash against Spurs

United battled Ange Postecoglou’s side to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

Martinez, 25, came on just after an hour to replace Jonny Evans and did not waste time to return to his old form.

The defender stopped Richarlison from reaching an out-swinging cross that was heading towards Alejandro Garnacho near the box, by shoving the Brazilian down to the ground.

And United fans were over the moon to have Martinez’s assistance as they took to social media to sing his praise.

One supporter said: “Martinez leaving one on Richarlison. It’s so good to have him back.”

While another added: “We’ve missed Martinez so much.”

A third then put: “Hence they call #licha the butcher🔥.”

Ten Hag’s side took the lead against Tottenham after just three minutes with Rasmus Hojlund’s strike before Richarlison levelled the scoreline 16 minutes later.

Just before the break, Marcus Rashford restored United’s lead, but Rodrigo Bentancur’s goal early in the second half left both teams with a point.

Martinez has had two foot ailments in the last 12 months.

He was injured in the Europa League quarterfinals against Sevilla in April of last year and had surgery for a broken metatarsal.

Following United’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal in October of last year, he underwent a second operation on his foot.

Martinez will now look to revive the Red Devils as they battle their way up the league for a place in Europe next season.
