SUPER BOOST: Erik ten Hag granted double fitness boost as Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw players return to training at Carrington

Erik ten Hag has been granted two fitness boosts in his squad ahead of Manchester United’s return to action on Sunday.

The Red Devils have returned from their winter break and are now undergoing preparations for the weekend’s fourth-round FA Cup tie away to Newport County.

Last time out on January 14 saw United draw 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford and while the result left a stale taste, supporters were delighted to see Lisandro Martinez make his long-awaited comeback when he was substituted in the second half. Casemiro was also named on the bench for the first time since November 1.

Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire, the defensive duo, look to be getting closer to full fitness after being photographed on Tuesday during team practice at Carrington. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was positioned out of position on the left side when the latter was forced to withdraw at the last minute, just in time to miss the Spurs match.

Since their last Champions League group-stage match in December, Maguire has not played for United. He was taken off the field in the 40th minute due to a groin injury, and he has been out of the lineup for the last month.
