‘Must do better’ – Harvey Elliott and Diaz made Klopp regretful after not being able to score in a 5vs3 situation in the draw with Fulham

Holding a 2-1 advantage from the first leg, Liverpool took the lead through Luis Diaz early in the first half at Craven Cottage.

But they missed several chances to kill off Fulham before Issa Diop’s late goal set the stage for a dramatic denouement.

Commenting on the draw with Fulham this morning, coach Jurgen Klopp shared:

“After the first half – we scored a goal and I think, we could have scored a second, the game started to become a bit more open. We went into the second half with the intention of holding more ball, better control of the game. However, Fulham applied more pressure, but we also read the game a little more.”

“I think we should have scored more goals, there were two situations. First was the counter-attack… everything was perfect but Diaz couldn’t find the right player, which is a bit unfortunate, and Then Harvey Elliott could have decided to finish with his right foot. We could have finished the game, but we didn’t.”
