‘BIG FLOP’: Dortmund fans mocked Jadon Sancho as Man Utd loanee created a POOR performance as losing the ball 12 times in the draw against PSV

Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho had yet another below-par performance as his side, Borussia Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw by Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

With a spectacular strike in the 24th minute, Donyell Malen gave Dortmund the lead.

After receiving a pass from former United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, Malen turned and shot, finishing in the top-right corner.

The Bundesliga team appeared to be in control as they prevented PSV from scoring, but the Dutch team tied the score barely eleven minutes into the half.

Luuk de Jong, the striker, scored a goal from the penalty spot that went well beyond Alexander Meyer’s reach in goal and into one of the bottom corners.

For most United fans, all eyes were on Sancho, who had a game to forget on the weekend when Dortmund played out a 1-1 stalemate against Wolfsburg.

On that occasion, Sancho managed 80 minutes of action and against PSV, he featured for only 68 minutes.

According to Sofascore, Sancho had 31 touches of the ball during the time he was on the pitch. He tried to deliver two crosses and found his intended target once.

The 23-year-old delivered one of the two long balls he tried to ping.

He won just two of the six ground duels he delved into and came out second in the one aerial challenge he was required to contest.

Sancho also put in two tackles.

Sancho returned to Dortmund – the club Man United signed him from in a £73 million deal in 2021 – on loan in January after he fell out with United boss Erik ten Hag.

In September Ten Hag publicly cited Sancho’s application in training as the reason why he was left out of United’s Premier League trip to Arsenal.

Sancho hit back ad claimed he was being treated an a scapegoat, and after he refused to apologise, he was frozen out of the first team squad.

United fans were split over who was to blame, but those who thought Sancho was in the wrong now feel vindicated following the attacker’s poor performance.

“But I thought Ten Hag was the problem? Big flop!,” one fan wrote on X, while another said: “Now everyone can see Ten Hag was not the problem.”

It appears that patience with Sancho is already running thin among sections of Dortmund’s support.

“]Marco] Reus and Sancho are total failures today. It’s a shame, I was hoping for Champions League BVB but the situation just doesn’t get any better,” one fan of the Bundesliga club wrote on X.

“Sancho is actually rewarded from his last stint at BVB. He has shown absolutely nothing and you have a young talent who is capable of threatening a defense on the bench. [Edin] Terzic is loyal to the absolute worst players,” another said.

One fans had had enough, saying: “Get Sancho outta here man.”

After shining in the first two matches with two assists in the Bundesliga, Sancho returned to his usual image of struggling. Up to this point, the player born in 2000 has not yet made his debut to represent Germany. Notably, Sancho has not played a full 90 minutes in a match since returning to the Bundesliga to play football.

United fans will be hoping that he picks up form sooner rather than later if the club are to have any hope of reaping a decent transfer fee from his potential summer sale.
