RAMPAGE OF DEVIL: Bruno Fernandes was spotted to argued with Michael Oliver after the bitter Man Utd loss over Fulham

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes ranted at the referee after Fulham won at Old Trafford.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was spotted in a heated exchange with referee Michael Oliver after the Red Devils were defeated 2-1 at home by Fulham on Saturday. Goals from Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi sealed the Whites’ first win at Old Trafford since 2003

Fernandes stormed over to the match official and voiced his complaints to Oliver, visibly upset at the manner of the defeat. He was joined by boss Erik ten Hag as the pair were less than impressed with the refereeing on display.

United went behind after 65 minutes when Bassey gave the visitors the lead in what had been a disjointed display without Rasmus Hojlund spearheading the Red Devils’ attack.

But late in the game, the hosts appeared to have salvaged a point when Harry Maguire scored a tap-in from close range after Bernd Leno had deflected Fernandes’ shot into his path.

Maguire was probably lucky to be on the field at all after receiving only a yellow card for a serious foul on Sasa Lukic in the first half.

But in the 97th minute, the visitors took the lead once more thanks to a goal from substitute Adama Traore, who got past Maguire and set up Iwobi, leaving Andre Onana helpless and preventing a thrilling late winner.

Five things we learned as Manchester United lose 2-1 to Fulham

While Fernandes appeared to believe that the officiating played a role in United’s defeat, his team-mate Maguire blamed their own nativity for allowing Fulham to break forward and score their second in the dying embers of the match.

“To be a goal behind, I thought our reaction was brilliant especially in the last 30 minutes and when we equalised probably only one team going to win it,” he said. “We were probably naive in the end by throwing too many bodies forward and getting done on the counterattack.

“Overall on the balance of play we didn’t do enough in the first 60 minutes or so, we started the game not great.”
