Right on the front page of Sport and Style – a special publication of L’Equipe newspaper, Arsene Wenger surprised fans with his never-before-seen fashion style. Classic and elegant, very suitable for the leader who people still call “Professor”.
Unlike strategists who prefer formality, dress appropriately and trendy like Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola, Arsene Wenger dresses quite casually, sometimes being criticized as ugly. Over the past ten years, fans as well as players at Arsenal have become accustomed to the image of Wenger as a simple, not flashy character.
But nobody could fault the Professor last weekend on Sport and Style. Wenger wore long coats with scarves and beautifully tailored suits, which gave him a timeless and refined look. Will Wenger wear this going forward, or is it just something he wears to… stand for Sport and Style’s cameras?
In this issue of L’Equipe, in addition to showing off impressive new images, Wenger also took time to share about his life and work. Talking about his absolute power at Arsenal, the French coach said: “I only play the role of a guide, I allow my students to show whatever abilities they have. I don’t create anything, I’m just someone who brings out the beauty in every person.”
