Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood carried on his fine for Getafe in their thrilling La Liga draw at home to Las Palmas

In the 3-3 draw, Greenwood, who is having a fantastic season on the continent, scored his team’s second goal.

The United player was active early on, getting one shot off before Jamie Mata gave Getafe the lead ten minutes in with a neat finish off a recycled corner.

After being given freedom in the Las Palmas half, Greenwood skillfully maneuvered around Alvaro Valles to score Getafe’s second goal in just three minutes, capping an explosive first half of play.

As he bore down on goal, the 22-year-old was never going to miss, skillfully finishing with his eighth of the season to put the home team ahead.

They maintained control until the 35th minute, when former Everton striker Sandro Ramirez curled home a beautiful 20-yard shot to cut the lead in half.

But in the last minute of the half, Nemanja Maksimovic scored a header to give Getafe a two-goal advantage going into halftime.

Greenwood registered five shots shots in total in the first 45 and it’s clear he is quickly becoming Getafe’s main man in attack. A late yellow card was the only blight on a fine first period.

However, Greenwood’s second half didn’t match his first as Getafe inexplicably threw away their advantage to give the away side a share of the spoils.

Mika Marmol and Munir both scored before the hour and there was nothing Greenwood or his teammates could do in response, with the game ending level.

Despite the dropped points, Greenwood will be pleased with his personal display, particularly in the first half, which saw the forward at his blistering best.

In this entertaining match, Greenwood proved he is Getafe’s number 1 dribbler with 5/5 successful dribbles. In addition, he also performed very impressively in defense when he had 7 Recoveries, 5/6 Duels won

A return to the first team would be unexpected, but Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently stated that his INEOS consortium will be taking a “fresh look” at Greenwood’s circumstances at United.

The forward’s future is probably not at Old Trafford, so United will be hoping that he can continue to play well through the end of the season to increase his market value.

After being charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault resulting in actual bodily harm, Greenwood stopped playing for United. He played his final game for the team in January 2022.
