For the Manchester Derby, the Red Devils were without nine first-team players as they lost 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Only Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot and Alejandro Garnacho have avoided injuries out of the squad’s outfield players.

The Manchester Evening News have reported that a “minority” of the playing staff are “concerned”.

Ten Hag’s ongoing demands on his players are allegedly the source of their concerns.

It is implied further that they think it has contributed to the team’s challenging on-field season.

Marcus Rashford and Jonny Evans were taken off the field during Sunday’s loss.

Ten Hag has admitted that the changes were enforced after the match.

He said: “I had to take them both off.

“They fought to be part of this game but after 60 or 70 minutes we had to take them off and sub them.

“We’re working on players returning and I think players will return in the coming weeks, especially after the international break.

“Hopefully Jonny Evans and Marcus Rashford are not too bad, that they recover and we can use them in the next game against Everton.”
