MATHEUS NUNES suffered a horror injury that left him in agony and fans sickened.
The Portuguese playmaker, 25, started as Manchester City booked their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Matheus Nunes suffered a gruesome finger injury during the Champions League win over Copenhagen
The Manchester City star was clearly in agony
But he was forced off late on in the 3-1 Etihad win over Copenhagen with a gruesome finger that appeared broken or dislocated.
Nunes went down and was clearly in extreme pain as he yelped out.
And images showed just how bad it was with his middle finger on his left hand bent 90 degrees backwards at the knuckle.
TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher said: “His finger was bent grotesquely.”
Manchester City’s medical staff ran on to treat the £53million summer signing from Wolves, who also got injured earlier in the season following a spectacular overhead kick attempt.
They immediately got to work on the digit and strapped it up.
However, Nunes was unable to continue and was subbed off for youngster Micah Hamilton.
But squeamish fans flooded social media with messages after witnessing the nasty injury – including plenty wishing him a speedy recovery.
One said: “Thought Nunes was just being a bit soft at the time. Just saw his finger,” followed by a sick emoji.
Another wrote: “Awful and painful sight.”
A third added: “Looks horrendous.”
A fourth typed: “This must be so painful. Get well soon Nunes.”
And a final user replied: “I don’t want to see Nunes’ finger anymore thank you!!”
As they attempt to maintain their title as the Kings of Europe, City easily won 6-2 overall.
Manuel Akanji scored with force, and nine minutes later, Kamil Grabara, the disguised goalie for Copenhagen, made a reprehensible mistake.
The Danish team’s Mohamed Elyounoussi pulled one back, but Erling Haaland scored his 41st Champions League goal to secure the victory.
