It has been suggested by a former player that Liverpool attempt to get Ivan Toney via a trade. Jürgen Klopp, nevertheless, is not going to take the peculiar advice.
This past weekend, Brentford’s Ivan Toney made a comeback against Nottingham Forest.
An ex-Reds striker has hinted that Liverpool could trade England striker Ivan Toney to Brentford this summer. It is recommended that Liverpool request Toney. The player’s offer to turn around, however, suggests that this is not likely to happen.
“For me, if Liverpool decided to come calling, that would be perfect,” said former Liverpool forward Stan Collymore in his Caught Offside column. “They already have an embarrassingly large offensive budget, but if any of them are sold in the coming months, the Brentford star may be a great addition.
.
“I think Toddy is so amazing that he could be compared to Mohamed Salah or Luis Díaz.” Sincerely, I think Toney will be a better striker for Liverpool than Cody Gakpo, and if I were the Reds, I would be inclined to let him go. Liverpool will most likely give him a look and declare, “Not for us.” Would the Bees accept an offer from Brentford that includes cash and Gakpo?
“Toney can play as a typical nine, drop off, and form partnerships, as he has shown with Bryan Mbeumo. He would be a great addition to Liverpool.” Personally, I would give Brentford a call.
.
There is not even the slightest chance that this will happen. Toney is anticipated to make a move in the summer, even though he just returned from suspension, and Brentford is willing to pay at least $100 million for him. Liverpool is extremely unlikely to spend that much money—or even send a player in partial compensation.
After Ivan Toney and Andy Robertson clashed during Liverpool’s defeat, Premier League supporters are perplexed as to why Brentford was not given a penalty: “That is just not credible at all.”
Jürgen Klopp has a lot of options at number nine for Liverpool, in addition to Gakpo, Darwin Núñez, and Diogo Jota. Instead of adding another centre back, it would make more sense for the Reds to sign a wider attacker.
Toney is much more likely to go elsewhere. Although it’s uncertain if Mikel Arteta’s team has the PSR/FFP space required to execute a deal, Arsenal has looked into the situation. At least not in January, considering how much money was spent on Declan Rice and Kai Havertz throughout the summer instead.
Liverpool.com comments: It’s one thing to propose that Toney be signed, but it’s absurd to trade Gakpo for him. Would Gakpo consent to joining Thomas Frank on the side? No. Would the Dutchman want to leave Liverpool? Obviously not.
At the very least, this is an odd proposal. That is just not going to happen. In addition, Toney is only 27 years old and hardly the kind of high-priced player the Reds would be interested in signing.
