Doku is currently enjoying success at Manchester City, but he could have played for Liverpool.
The 21-year-old Belgian international winger has previously been linked to Liverpool. In June 2023, French journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter revealed that Liverpool has a serious interest in Doku.
Doku’s father claimed that they went to Anfield in 2018 and discussed a transfer with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who viewed Doku as a Sadio Mane-type talent.
City signed the youngster during the summer of 2023. The defending Premier League champions paid Rennes £55.5 million (Sky Sports).

On Saturday, Doku played for City against Newcastle United in the FA Cup quarterfinals at the Etihad Stadium.
The winger started on the left flank, and Danny Murphy, a former Liverpool midfielder and BBC Sport analyst, was quite impressed.
The teenager caused problems for Newcastle’s defenders throughout his time on the field. His pace was terrifying.
Murphy remarked of Doku on BBC One: “Doku is electric.” superb feet, superb balance. I definitely wouldn’t want to play against him.
“They say watch your feet, not the ball; it’s not that simple. I attempted it once against Gianfranco Zola at Anfield, and it did not go well.”
Doku is only 21 and has a lot of promise. He is not the finished thing yet, and he can only improve, especially under City boss Pep Guardiola.
This season, the winger has five goals and six assists in 33 outings for City across all competitions.
