Alejandro Garnacho has had another fine season with Manchester United and he played a key role in the club’s 4-3 comeback win over Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final yesterday.

The Argentine showed a tireless work rate over the course of 120 minutes. He did not find the back of the net but made five key passes including one for Amad’s last-gasp winner.

The club graduate made a superb lung-bursting run from his own half in the closing seconds of extra-time before feeding the ball to Amad, who scored with a low shot into the bottom right corner.

Aside from his assist, Garnacho also indirectly created the opening goal. His shot on target was saved by Caoimhin Kelleher, but the rebound fell into the path of Scott McTominay for an easy tap-in.

The 19-year-old also had 15 touches in the opposition box.

DataMB now reveal that Garnacho is currently the best Under-21 player in Europe’s top-five leagues when it comes to shots and touches in the box per 90 minutes.

The talented winger has averaged over six touches and 2.5 shots, his statistics are superior than Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham and Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.

Garnacho has registered 11 goal contributions for United this term. The last of those has ensured that the Red Devils still have the chance to win a trophy.

In addition to his goal participation, the youthful player has impressed with his ability to make crucial passes, run counterattacks, and work tirelessly.

Though he is still a long way from reaching Bellingham or Wirtz heights, he is making progress.

Garnacho is the younger of the two by one year. United may have a star on their hands if the Argentine can sharpen his decision-making in the closing third.

Currently starting ahead of Amad Diallo and Antony at right wing, the teenager is an unquestionable starter.

As the team looks to finish in the top four of the Premier League and win the FA Cup, the supporters will be hopeful that he can maintain his strong play in the last stretch of the season.
