Diogo Dalot, a right-back for Manchester United, has shared the adjustments he made to his training regimen that have enabled him to regularly give his all for the Reds.
After joining Man United, Dalot was the only player available for selection for every match. His rigorous attention to detail included additional training sessions, injury prevention-focused rehabilitation, and individualized work with a nutritionist.
“Since I started playing professional football, I always try to keep my routine,” he stated to us. “I need to be at my best physically and mentally in order to perform at my highest level. I’ve been improving my level of game and training preparation, especially this season and last season.
“This has been my biggest support outside of the pitch to be able to perform on the pitch, whether it be nutrition, sleep, or beats [music] before and after training,” the player said. In order to be totally prepared to play, I constantly strive to maintain my habits there.
Diogo prefers to be at ease during the build-up to games, particularly when there is some downtime in the team hotel. This allows him to maintain complete focus on the work at hand.
“It has now become a ritual. I wasn’t a big coffee drinker, so he really drew me in, but I’ve since begun doing that. Just a brief conversation. We occasionally spend too much time in the hotel and leave the room to briefly chat and attempt to concentrate on the game.
“I obviously listen to my music, get ready for the game by stretching, doing mobility exercises, and getting massages.”
