Virgil van Dijk, who made his editorial modeling debut, was featured in a ten-page spread in the latest edition of Vogue Scandinavia.

The Liverpool captain is pictured wearing the best outerwear from the Danish company in a story on Rains designers Philip Lotko and Daniel Brix Hesselager that goes along with the photo shoot. Van Dijk was a natural choice for the editorial because he was the founders’ inspiration and close friend.

 

Though the photo shoot began casually—a friend asking another friend for a favor—the pictures propel van Dijk into the upper echelons of the modeling world. The Dutchman, photographed at his home, masterfully illustrates the latest Rains collection with a series of thoughtful close-ups. 

Recently, players have begun to enter photo settings and appear to be having no issues at all. For a while now, Son Heung-min has been featured in billboards and commercials, such as those for Calvin Klein and Burberry. Bukayo Saka is featured in Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2024 campaign.

The runway might come next, given that van Dijk graces the glossy pages of Vogue. Soon, every designer’s moodboard will include your favorite celebs.
