Liverpool is “prepared” to acquire Alonso.

Xabi Alonso is going to cost Liverpool “the bank,” as Football Insider reports. With ties to both the Reds and Bayern Munich, the Bayer Leverkusen coach is currently the most sought-after manager in the world of football.

With the departure of both Jürgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel, both clubs will be without managers come summertime. Although recent reports suggest Bayern may have taken the lead in the fight to acquire Alonso, he is still the favorite to take over at both.

If Alonso decided to leave Leverkusen, Sky Sports reported last week that he would relocate to Munich instead of Liverpool. However, according to Football Insider, the Reds aren’t about to give up.

According to the article, Liverpool is reportedly negotiating behind the scenes to create a succession plan before to Klopp’s departure. However, Alonso will have the final say in the matter, and Liverpool is reportedly interviewing other candidates as a fallback.

Lijnders is shortlisted for Ajax

The ECHO claims that Pep Lijnders is being considered by Ajax to take over as the Dutch team’s head coach for the upcoming campaign. The 41-year-old is scheduled to depart Liverpool in the summer, following Jürgen Klopp out the door with his coaching staff.

It’s possible that Lijnders won’t be unemployed for very long. Ajax, who have been without a permanent manager since Maurice Steijn was fired in October, is reportedly considering him.

Since then, John van ‘t Schip has served as acting manager; however, Lijnders and Jordan Henderson, the former captain of Liverpool, may get back together in Amsterdam. The midfield player left Anfield last summer and signed with Ajax in January after spending a brief time in Saudi Arabia.

Lijnders, who has assisted Klopp since 2018, has previously stated that he wants to work in management. He has made hints that Vitor Matos, the elite development coach at Liverpool, would work as his assistant when he moves on to a new team.
