“Having spent six months here so far, I want to stay long enough and get a lot done before I do something permanent.”

Dominik Szoboszlai outlines his objectives for Anfield in this second part of Carlsberg’s Inked series, which explores the meaning behind the tattoos on Liverpool players.

The captain of Hungary, who twice won the German Cup while playing for RB Leipzig, is considering getting a tattoo of the trophy.

And Szoboszlai hopes to leave such a lasting impact on the Reds that he will someday have to decide whether or not to have silverware engraved on his body.

He says, “A trophy, this is the thing,” in response to a question concerning the potential for a tattoo that would represent his newly discovered bond with the team, according to Liverpoolfc.com.

“I was there when they won the German Cup for the first time ever, and I won it twice, so I’ve been thinking for a long time that I should be the one to receive the trophy from my time playing in Leipzig.” Even if I [win] more, I might still wind up doing it—I’m still thinking about it. We’ll see.

“I need more time,” I want to make the most of my time here and get as much done as I can before committing to something permanent. I will spend six months here.

The No. 8 continues, expressing faith that this is just the start. My objective is to work hard, stay here as long as I can, and win as many prizes as I can.

Since we are currently in the middle of the season, it is just getting started even more. Our aim at the end of the league is to still be leading the standings.

Szoboszlai has been a mainstay in Jürgen Klopp’s starting lineup for the most of his first season with the team, making 26 appearances and scoring four goals so far.

His bond with supporters is having a significant influence even though his time on Merseyside is still early.

“It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world,” asserts the midfielder. “The people are incredible; they consistently show their love for the club and support us.”

Of course, there are times when it isn’t as successful [on the field], but we never stop becoming better. We don’t do it because we want to; it’s just this day. Even on the days when we are unable to give it everything we have, it might not be enough.

The truth is, though, that they are still going strong and enjoying themselves, and for that, I am thankful.

Szoboszlai has a lot of tattoos on his left arm, most of them have family and football as recurring motifs.

The collection began while he was approximately fifteen years old, the first item the outcome of a bet he had with his father, Zsolt.

“My dad and I made a deal. I was able to get [a tattoo] when I won a football bet. Thus, it wasn’t a cunning one,” he clarifies.

“I was certain about it. In addition to the others [since]. I never said I was sorry I did it. It’s there, with me [for] some reason, and in some ways it made getting here easier or more enjoyable. I hope there will be more.

His body art includes a quote ascribed to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, along with motivational phrases like “never give up” and “great things take time.”

They are placed next to the dates of his parents’ births and a clock that represents the birthday of his younger sister.

Regarding tattoos, Szoboszlai says, “I just liked them since I was a kid.” “My parents also have some of them. Little ones are mine and my sister’s, and my mother’s. A few belong to my father. I therefore liked them immediately away.

“No matter how things are going right now, family will always be there. For me, it operates in this way. There are certainly more people you trust or believe will be there through good times and bad, but those three are guaranteed to be there.

My sister is only seven years old, but even if she is unable to help, she will probably still be there for me if I need anything. as well as my father and parents. Of course, there are other members of your family or acquaintances that you really trust.

“However, the only people I truly trust completely are my parents.”
