He said: “You will, and other people will tell us ‘they have a better goal difference, we have to go for that’.

Liverpool has a big disadvantage in terms of goal difference compared to Arsenal

“We are who we are, we are how we are, and that is why we are in the race and I am absolutely fine with that. Until yesterday, we were top of the table and now it is Arsenal.

“We want to be there after 38 (games), after the last matchday. It’s always better to be there the whole time and get some distance between you (and the other teams).

“We are fine with our situation. I wish we would have more points but I am absolutely fine – and I am actually over the moon these boys brought us into that situation.

“The same boys that missed a few chances are the boys who brought us 71 points.”

As things stand, Arsenal have a nine-goal advantage over Liverpool, while Man City’s goal difference is barely worse.
