HEARTWARMING PLAYER: Cody Gakpo sacrifices his rest time in Liverpool to return home and assist his homeland, Togo

Liverpool player Cody Gakpo was captured on camera feeding children while visiting Togo, the home nation of his mother.

The 24-year-old is shown in a TikTok video serving bowls of food to a gathering of young people who are waiting.

According to ESPN, Gakpo’s decision to take a post-season break is motivated by his desire to give back to Togo; the player is thought to be exploring the potential of establishing a charitable project in the nation.

Gakpo is deeply connected to his Togolese homeland and his family, who are still based in the most populous country in Africa. However, when Togo’s football association approached him four years ago about switching international teams, the former PSV player remained steadfast in his decision to play for the Dutch national team, which he has been a part of since he was an U18 player.

Gakpo had prеviously еxprеssеd his dеsirе to travеl to Togo in 2019, but a busy schеdulе and thе COvID pandеmic stoppеd him from doing so until now.

The 24-year-old remarked, “My older brother has been to Togo, just like my younger brother,” while speaking to herself on video chat at the moment. Not me, though, yet.

“My bucket list still includes a trip to Togo. But figuring out when… Planning a longer vacation is tough for a football player, especially an international one.

“I would like to go.” Maybe forego Ibiza during the summer, hehe.
