In an interview with Manchester Evening News, coach Erik ten Hag felt honored to witness the image of Manchester United fans still supporting in the rain even though the club lost to Crystal Palace.

Man United suffered one of the heaviest defeats this season when the Red Devils were defeated 0-4 by Palace in the match of round 36 of the Premier League.

After only 68 minutes, the Eagles put an end to Ten Hag squad with 4 goals scored by Jean-Philippe Mateta, Tyrick Mitchell and a double from Michael Olise.

Despite receiving an extremely difficult result, after the match, many Man United fans still stayed at Selhurst Park to encourage the home team players. The image touched coach Ten Hag and said that the fans understood the difficulties. The team is facing a storm of injuries.

“We realize the love of the fans, the whole team is very grateful and we have to fight more determinedly to not disappoint the fans,” the Dutch coach said on Manchester Evening News.

“I am very happy and honored to receive encouragement from fans. They cheered from the first minute until the end of the match, so I guess they also understand the limitations of the squad right now.”

In addition, in the above interview, the 54-year-old strategist said that fighting spirit is Man United’s biggest weakness this season.

“In 2024, we have only lost 4 matches but every week we reveal big problems, typically with the spirit of play. Today the whole team has become a very fragile group,” Ten Hag added.

Empty-handed against Palace, Man United officially dropped to 8th place on the rankings with 54 points after 35 matches, equal to the team ranked above Chelsea but worse in sub-index.
