Liverpool is moving forward with its intentions to add players, and they may now target a well-known midfield player who is familiar with Arne Slot.
Less than a day has passed since Jurgen Klopp left, but as is customary, a number of rumors about possible additions are already surface.
Soon, Arne Slot, the new manager, will arrive at Anfield to begin his duties, and part of that task will involve making new recruits.
One individual who has already been mentioned today is Jacob Ramsey, a midfielder for Aston Villa.
But rumors from Turkey claim that Liverpool is also considering a midfield player who has a good working relationship with Slot.
Orkun Kokcu is being pursued by Liverpool to collaborate with Arne Slot.
The Reds are considering Kokcu as a candidate to play in the midfield under Slot, per a Fotosport report.
Kokcu, who previously worked with Slot at Feyenoord, signed a contract with Benfica and has already made an impression.
Kokcu has scored seven goals this season while also dishing out eleven assists.
The 23-year-old Turkish international has been linked to a move to England for a while now, so he still has time to develop in the Premier League.
The release provision in his contract can be one of the points of contention. The Benfica player reportedly has a £128 million clause in his current contract, which would require a significant financial commitment from the Reds.
Is Luka Modric’s replacement, Orkun Kokcu?
Being likened to Real Madrid icon Modric is certainly the accolade, but Momo Sissoko, a former Red, has made the comparison with Kokcu.
He impressed me as an attacking midfielder as well as a central defense when I watched him play in a variety of positions. Sissoko stated back in 2022, “He’s ideal as a pivot in a three-man midfield; Juventus are seeking for a profile like his to boost the group.
“I lose my balance and respond to Modric because I think he plays with the same quality. When asked to contrast Kokcu with a current player, he said, “He has the potential to reach his level.”
Thus, Kokcu might be a player who flourishes in England under Slot’s tutelage.
But at £128 million, it’s a significant expenditure for the Reds and one that should be carefully thought through.
