Onana was in the Middle East for Saturday night’s ceremony, one week after helping United win the FA Cup by defeating Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley Stadium.

The Cameroon international was seen conversing with Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority and the driving force behind Saudi Arabia’s sports boom, and presenting him with a United shirt bearing his name on the back.

Onana, who paid £47.2 million to join United from Inter Milan last summer, was one of Erik ten Hag’s players that triumphed over a challenging campaign. The 28-year-old is expected to travel to Cameroon to spend time with his family before heading back to Manchester to begin preseason training.

Before leaving on a US tour that includes games against Arsenal in Los Angeles, Real Betis in San Diego, and Liverpool in South Carolina, United will play Rosenborg in Norway and Glasgow Rangers at Murrayfield. On August 10, United and City will square off once more in the Community Shield.
