Summary Liverpool stars performance on national duty: Jota wakes up; Szoboszlai has a little problem

Three minutes into the second half of his team’s friendly against Croatia, the Liverpool attacker scored from close range after coming off the bench.

Although Croatia went on to win the game 2-1, Jota’s second goal in as many Euro 2024 warm-up matches cancelled out Luka Modric’s early penalty.

Meanwhile, Dominik Szoboszlai captained Hungary to a 3-0 home victory over Israel.

The Reds midfielder was substituted just before the hour but confirmed post-match that his withdrawal was merely a precaution with his side’s European Championship opener a week away.

Szoboszlai told M4 Sport: “I’ll be fine. My legs were a little stiff, I didn’t want to take any risks, that’s why I came off.”

Elsewhere, Conor Bradley was taken off midway through the second half of Northern Ireland’s 5-1 loss away to Spain.
