Hungary under Dominik Szoboszlai beat Scotland 1-0 on Sunday night at Euro 2024. The rival team was Andy Robertson’s.
Ten minutes into additional time, Kevin Csoboth’s goal guaranteed Liverpool’s triumph in the Group A game at Stuttgart, where each captain had guided their country.
During a goalless first half, Hungary came closest to breaking the impasse when Willi Orban headed Szoboszlai’s disguised, dinked free-kick against the crossbar.
The second stanza seemed to be passing by without any points being recorded as a collision resulted in Hungary’s Barnabas Varga being stretchered off and sent to the hospital overshadowed it.
Szoboszlai’s shot from within the area was saved just moments before teammate Csoboth slammed the post, a minute into extra time.
Grant Hanley of Scotland was stopped on the other end, but Csoboth completed a counterattack with Szoboszlai in the last minute of play to secure the victory.
While Scotland will be dropped, Hungary will now finish third in the group and must wait to find out whether their three points will be sufficient to progress them to the round of sixteen.
