Cody Gakpo’s effort in the Netherlands’ victory over Romania in the round of 16 has garnered a lot of acclaim from supporters.

Ronald Koeman’s team won 3-0 at the Allianz Arena to guarantee their spot in the quarterfinals of the 2024 European Championship.

After twenty minutes, Gakpo scored the first goal. Seven minutes remaining, he provided the assist for Donyell Malen’s close-range goal.

Memphis Depay led the Netherlands’ attack as the Liverpool star performed from the left wing.

In an attempt to get the most out of him for the upcoming season, some Reds fans request that he be played in the same position, after he drove social media into a frenzy.

Gakpo’s goal against Romania brought his tally to three goals, which puts him in joint first place among goal scorers for Euro 2024.

During the group stage, the 25-year-old scored as well against Poland and Austria.

Gakpo remarked, “We played a good game and showed a great reaction from the last one and we are very pleased,” following the victory over Romania.

I believe that we needed a response after the previous game, and today was a positive start.

In the quarterfinals, the Netherlands will take on the victor of Austria vs Turkey.
