LFC star Trent Alexander-Arnold joins Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney as investor in Alpine F1 team alongside sporting superstars Rory McIlroy, Anthony Joshua and Alexander Zverev 🏎️⚽

The Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, along with Liverpool sensation Trent Alexander-Arnold, are now investors in the Alpine Formula 1 team.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The England international defender is one of several athletes that are a part of the strategic investment in motor racing that Investment Manager APEX, which focuses on sports, media, and entertainment, is making. Tennis star Alexander Zverev, golf legend Rory McIlroy, and former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua are also interested in the project.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

They become a member of the syndicate formed by Otro Capital, which in June paid $200 million (£165 million) to purchase a 24 percent share in Alpine. That original arrangement included actors Reynolds, McElhenney, and Michael B. Jordan, all of whom have some involvement in British football at Wrexham and Bournemouth. Stars of the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, have also made investments.

Regarding the idea, Alexander-Arnold stated, “I am thrilled to lead an investor group investing in Alpine F1.” The prospect is tremendously exciting; Formula One is expanding greatly on a global scale, and I’m excited to help fuel that expansion. In a high-stress setting, the sport combines inventiveness, pinpoint accuracy, and teamwork—aspects of my game that we share in common.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Alpine has fallen behind teams like McLaren and Aston Martin this season, after finishing fourth in the F1 constructors’ championship in 2022. With Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly confirmed as drivers through 2024, they are still extremely ambitious, and the team is estimated to be worth $900 million (£741 million).
