EXTRAORDINARY INK: Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai reveals ‘Steven Gerrard’s ink’ was the ‘most important reason’ he joined Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai has discussed the significance of his Steven Gerrard tattoo and the reasoning behind his selection of Liverpool’s legendary No. 8 shirt.

Szoboszlai became Jurgen Klopp’s second buy of the summer on Sunday when he transferred from RB Leipzig to Liverpool for £60 million.

Alexis MacAllister, who joined from Brighton and has been sporting Sadio Mane’s No. 10 shirt before he left for Bayern Munich in the summer, arrived before him.

After Naby Keita left the team, Szoboszlai was given the No. 8 jersey, which Gerrard wore most of the time.

Because of Gerrard’s accomplishments in Istanbul and his commitment to the Merseyside club, a lot of Liverpool players have always looked up to him.

Szoboszlai also admires the late England midfielder, who had the quote, “Talent is a divine blessing, but without incredible will and humility, it is worth nothing,” tattooed on his arm.

Szoboszlai explains the tattoo on Gerrard.

When the Hungary international first arrived at Anfield, he gave an interview with LFCTV about why he chose to wear the No. 8 jersey.

He remarked it’s a big amount, but not for any specific reason.

Oyvind Leonhardsen, Stan Collymore, Jamie Redknapp, and Paul Stewart all wore the number eight prominently until Emile Heskey took Gerrard’s place.

After a disappointing 2022–23 season, Szoboszlai will try to resurrect Liverpool’s title hopes by imitating Gerrard’s exploits in a red shirt.
